Throughout this past year, we have continued to be blown away by the commitment, passion, and generosity demonstrated by the GFGC community. Not only did we come together and organize two charity marathon events in the past ten months, but we’ve also raised a record-breaking $5,000 for the benefit of charity: water. These efforts will bring access to live-saving clean water to more than 150 people worldwide in the coming months, both saving and changing their lives. These tangible, real-world results truly demonstrate the impact that our community has had (and continues to have!) on the world, and we know that none of it would be possible without your boundless passion, commitment and support. All we can say is thank you, thank you, thank you!
While what we have already accomplished this year is incredible, we acknowledge that there is always still more work to be done, which is why we believe there is no better time than the present to continue our “Year of Water” fundraising effort. We are excited to announce our next seasonal charity fundraiser, the GFGC Water Fall Campaign for the benefit of charity: water!
About charity: water
Presently, 785 million people on the planet don’t have access to clean and safe drinking water. This lack of access costs lives, with waterborne disease killing more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. The water crisis also disproportionately affects women and girls across the planet, who often walk upwards of four hours a day to their nearest source of water, which may not even be safe for their families to drink. Despite the enormity of these challenges, solving the water crisis is possible, thanks to the tireless work of charity: water.
charity: water is a nonprofit committed to bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in need all around the world. They partner with local organizations from all across the globe to implement sustainable, community-led water projects in areas that need aid the most. Since their inception, charity: water has successfully brought clean water to more than 13 million people in 29 different countries. The organization’s extensive impact has proven that access to clean water changes everything: it can improve health, boost local economies, empower women, and even enable young girls to get an education.
GFGC Marathon: Water Fall
This month, we’re excited to present GFGC Marathon: Water Fall, a 3-Day streaming event that once again, features you, the GFGC community! Similar to our two previous GFGC Marathon events, we are in need of passionate Twitch streamers in our community interested in gaming for global change this fall! If this sounds like you, please fill out this application form. Applications will close on October 15th, 2021, so please submit your information as soon as you can!
For GFGC Marathon: Water Fall, we are excited to work with charity: water once again to support their “15 for 15” fundraiser. This 15th anniversary campaign aims to raise $150,000 by the end of November and fund 15 clean water projects for communities in need all across the globe. We are looking to support this initiative and raise a fitting $1,500 this month for their cause, but we cannot do it without your help! If you’re interested in making a contribution to the campaign, you can do so here. All contributions, regardless of size, are greatly appreciated! Even $1 funds 1,100 liters of clean water for a community in need, enough to supply a family with clean water for 12.5 days!
We can’t wait for all of you to join us when GFGC Marathon: Water Fall kicks off over at the GFGC Twitch Channel at 12PMCT on October 29th, 2021! The event will run daily across the weekend, wrapping up on October 31st.
