For the benefit of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)
In the Summer of 2023, a Troupe of Heroes rose up from despair to fight against the gloom and save the kingdom! With the power of “Abilities”, Nintendothon Kingdom encouraged viewers to decide how the event shaped up. Whether it was fusing incentives together or random spins of the “Ultrawheel”, Nintendothon Kingdom was definitely full of many twists and turns! The event was hosted in memory of long-time GFGC contributor and friend, Sean Byrne, who lost his battle with mental illness in late 2022. Following five days of games for a good cause, nearly $2,000 was raised for the benefit of NAMI, helping to destigmatize mental illness and increase access to mental health resources across the US.

GFGC Marathon: Level Up

For the benefit of The Trevor Project
Following logistical challenges, the winter 2022 Nintendothon event was cancelled, and in its place, the GFGC Marathon event was brought back to feature members of our online community once again! Following four days on the air, GFGC Marathon Level Up was able to raise $1,662 for The Trevor Project, the first time GFGC had fundraised for a new cause in nearly 4 years.

For the benefit of Direct Relief
In the summer of 2022, tales became reality at Nintendothon Legends! With a “Mystery Capsule” incentive system and donors collecting unique Badges each day of the marathon, Nintendothon Legends utilized its theme to deliver a legendary event experience for all. Nintendothon Legends featured a record cast of 14 attendees, including several GFGC community members who traveled in from all across North America just to attend. Following five days of unforgettable fun, Nintendothon Legends raised a grand total of $2,930 for the benefit of Direct Relief, becoming the most successful Nintendothon event at the time of its airing.

For the benefit of charity: water
GFGC wrapped up our Year of Water fundraising campaign for charity: water with a stellar event known as Nintendothon All Stars! This scaled-down event sought to bring Nintendothon back to its roots, delivering a scaled-back and streamlined event experience focused on fundraising and fun! A popular incentive at All Stars involved doodles on a whiteboard, which lead to several hilarious drawings by the event’s attendees. Following four days of fun, Nintendothon All Stars raised more than $1,750, bringing our grand total for the year to $7,880 raised for charity: water!

GFGC Marathon: Water Fall

In October 2021, the GFGC community came together once again for another GFGC Marathon! This event was hosted in conjunction with charity: water’s 15 for 15 fundraising event, which aimed to fund fifteen clean water projects in commemoration of their 15th anniversary. Following three fun days of gaming for a great cause, GFGC Marathon: Water Fall raised a grand total of $705 for the benefit of charity: water, adding to our “Year of Water” fundraiser’s grand total, and bringing clean water to seventeen people!

Following a year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our flagship event returned with a bang, traveling around the world in five days at Nintendothon Odyssey! As a part of the “Odyssey Travel Package”, each day of the marathon transformed into a new theme called a destination, offering unique and limited-time donation incentives and rewards. Following five days of adventure, activities, and fun, Nintendothon Odyssey raised nearly $3,000 for the benefit of charity: water, becoming one of the most successful Nintendothon events at the time of its broadcast.

GFGC Marathon: Just Add Water!

For the benefit of charity: water’s Water x Stream event
In February 2021, GFGC connected with charity: water and signed on as an official broadcaster for their Water X Stream event, which aimed to raise $1M for clean water projects before Earth Day. The team from last December’s event came back together and even grew in size, organizing GFGC Marathon: Just Add Water for the benefit of charity: water! Following three amazing days of fundraising, GFGC Marathon: Just Add Water became the most successful fundraiser organized by GFGC to date, raising $2,500 for charity: water and surpassing a cumulative $25K raised for charity since 2013. These funds were matched 100% by PCPartPicker as a part of the Water X Stream event, helping us bring clean water to more than 120 people in Uganda.

GFGC Marathon

Due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic, Gaming For Global Change was forced to innovate, producing a streaming event for charity while keeping everyone distanced and safe. From this conflict, GFGC Marathon, a four day remote streaming event featuring broadcasters from all around the globe, was born. After four days of daily streaming from 12PM-12AM, more than $1,300 was raised for the benefit of COVID-19 relief and several new members of our community had the opportunity to game for global change.

Nintendothon set sail for uncharted waters at Nintendothon New Horizons, welcoming viewers to the five-day long “New Horizons Festival” on Nintendothon Island! Broadcast in the midst of a global pandemic, Nintendothon New Horizons’ initial, scaled-back nature blossomed into an intimate and innovative marathon experience, surpassing both of its donation goals and becoming the most successful Nintendothon event at the time of its airing.

Nintendothon battled for a good cause at Nintendothon Sword and Shield, splitting into two teams for a five-day long competitive venture for the benefit of St. Jude! After 120 hours of hard-fought battles over donation total ownership, social media supremacy, and EXP battle domination, Team Sword gained bragging rights over Team Shield, and nearly $1,500 was raised for a good cause!
